Android 12 Update

As soon as the calendar hits 2021, the race for Android 12 will begin. Yes, I am right because a team of developers at Android will be working on what's in the cart for the version 12 update. Atleast they will be looking to list out features that this mobile software version will carry.

Android 12 Name:

Earlier until Android 9.0 Pie, the Android team used to give a name starting with a dessert. For example, Android 9.0 was named a Pie update, Android 8.0/8.1 was named Oreo, and Android 7.0/7.1 was termed a Nougat update. However, such a tradition changed with the release of the Android 10 version. The Android 11 version too didn't get a name, similarly, the 12th major mobile operating system release will be mostly termed as "Android 12".

Android 12 Release Date:

All the Android versions go through several developer previews and beta testers. There will be atleast 4 developer preview releases before the Android 12 version is announced in August or September. The rollout will begin in 2022. That's the usual plan seen until now for every Android released by Google.

The formal announcement is likely to happen at their yearly Google I/O developer's conference as this has been the spot for years for Google to announce a new software version.

Android 12 Features

The Android development team is right now busy looking out for the features that it could bring to the table with the new Android version.

Talking about the features, we see the first one expected in the form of revamped split-screen multi-tasking with "App Pairs". It would give a more practical approach to multi-tasking. 9to5Google reports that the multi-tasking feature is already available on Android 11 but it would be revamped with a practical approach.

One of the biggest Developer Preview developments that we see is the testing of auto hibernating unused apps to free up space(as reported by the XDA community). This could probably be the main reason why you should upgrade to Android 12.

The company also said that they are working on bringing a gaming-focused feature that will offer an immersive gaming experience.

Also, Google will introduce 'Restricted Networking Mode'. Through this option, it will provide access to apps that have network permission and the rest apps will have no access to data. This is to prevent app hacking tricks that involve code hacks or spyware.

There is a Trash bin for deleted files coming up too.
