We all know that the Android version is updated regularly. Atleast there is one new major upgrade available. As of now, the Android 12 is the latest version which was announced in the second quarter of 2021.

How to Check for BLU OTA Update

If you want to download the latest Android update on your BLU Mobile phone, there are two ways:

Via Update Notification

If you have received any notification about the software update then please tap on it and download the firmware. Normally all the OEMs send update notifications to the consumer handset so that they are notified about the update availability.

It’s recommended to connect your device to available Wi-Fi because data charges may incur on your device. (Recommended Reading: Wi-Fi tethering on BLU)

Your device will restart several times during this software update process. So please be patient as it can take more than 15-20 minutes of your time, depending on the updated file size.

Manual Update

If you haven’t received any update notification then you can manually check for the software availability by going through Settings > About Device and then tapping on Software Update/Upgrade.

If the updates are available they will be displayed and if there is no update then it will display the same message.

Do BLU Phones get Android Updates?

BLU Phone has been often criticized for now delivering Android updates on their smartphones. I want to clarify one thing here BLU sells entry-level phones and at this price tag, no OEMs deliver the updates until especially mentioned. I am not defending BLU Products instead I am telling the truth.

Still, BLU has delivered beta updates to Bold N1, Android 10 beta to BLU G9 Pro, and monthly updates to $200 mobiles.

Gone are the days you need PC software and a USB cable for updating your mobile phone. You can just now go wireless to download the firmware.

BLU Android 11 Update

The Mountain View search engine giant has planned to unveil the 2020 version of Android as Android 11 and the development of it has begun with the launch of the first Developer Preview available on 20 February 2020. Since then three developer previews have been released.

And here is the list of eligible phones to get the Android 11 update.

BLU Android 10 Phones:

BLU Products and Bold Phone has planned to make available the Android 10 update to eligible phones. You can learn more about it here. As of now, BLU has confirmed only one phone will get the Android 10 update and that too it’s not a BLU phone but it’s in the new BOLD subsidiary. It’s –

• BLU Vivo XL5 Android 10 update
• BLU Vivo X6 Android 10 update

Among the expected devices to receive this update are BLU Vivo XL5, BLU G9 Pro, BLU View 1, and BLU G9.

Sadly BLU has disappointed every user after promising the Android 10 update for Bold N1. Users on Reddit and other communities have kept on asking about the same. I too have concerns because it’s already June and Google is about to launch a new Android 11 version. Still, there are no signs of an update for this device.

BLU Android Pie Mobiles

Android Pie is the latest version of Android and it will be available to some of the BLU phones launched in 2018.

BLU Android Security Update

As reported by several users, May 2020 security update has been rolled out to Bold N1 mobile.

It was reported in April 2019, that BLU G9 has received the April 2019 Android security update.

Being the top priority phone for BLU, you can get the firmware updates on BLU F91 mobile phone.

BLU G91 Android 11 update:

The G91 is the newest flagship by BLU for the 2021 year and if any device is worth upgrading to Android 11, then it would be BLU G91.

The reality of BLU Software Upgrades

Another fact to reality is that the BLU delivers a lesser number of software updates to their devices but with the recent launch of flagship BLU Vivo XI and Vivo XI+, the company’s CEO Samuel Ohev Zion has promised software upgrade too. Here are the reasons –

• No Updates for Entry-Level Phones: Nobody promises software updates for phones under $100 or less. Please tell me if any phone apart from the Nokia 1 Series receives major OS updates.
• No updates for mid-range phones: Except only for selected flagships, BLU doesn’t provide software support to any of their models.

Things are changing, but they are slow and steady. Still, we are waiting for the Android Pie upgrade to the Vivo XI phone.

BLU Phone Update Failed:

When an update fails, there is something wrong with the update itself or your device has some problem. Apart from retrying, there is nothing that you can do.

In order to troubleshoot such issues, you will have to check the following –

• Sufficient Space: You should have sufficient space on your phone in order to download the firmware package.
• Data or Wi-Fi: One should ensure that you have enough data available in order to download the update. It’s better to connect to Wi-Fi while updating your device.
• Data Limits: Please make sure that you don’t have to set any data limits.
